Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

At Stepney, we are totally committed to provide a community where Equalty, Diversity & inclusion are Fundamental Values.

In all aspects of our work and play, we respect each and every individual without discrimination or prejudice and are proactive in preventing bullying.

We adhere to the Equality Act 2010 which protects people from discrimination. This act includes nine protected characteristics, which are:

  • Age

  • Disability

  • Gender Reassignment

  • Marriage and Civil partnershi

  • Maternity and pregnancy

  • Race

  • Religion and belief

  • Sex

  • Sexual Orientation

The Education Act 2010 states that pupils in school, or people associated with them (e.g. parents), should not be discriminated against.

We use the CPOMS online system for recording any instances of bullying or discrimination, and assign specific criteria to these and not just a 'blanket' term.

Our staff receive training on these issues, whether from online sites or in person from organisations such as Barnardo's.

Within school, our staff address many different areas in respect to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within assemblies, PSHE / RE lessons and as part of the broader curriculum.

Below are links to websites of organisations and resources that staff, pupils, parents and relatives may refer to. Just click on one of the images to access your chosen site:
