The Stepney Star Daily Diary

British Ethos/Jigsaw Theme & Growth Mindset Learning Muscle

Each week at Stepney, we have a theme, taken from one of our British Values. We also link these to our Jigsaw termly PSHCE themes, whilst also considering different cultural celebrations and special days from around the world. This half term, our British Ethos theme is Mutual Respect and Tolerance. We are also a Growth Mindset School: this year we are thinking about Learning Muscles, which we think about and present our Star of the Week awards for. We have combined our posters in our drive to reduce paper usage.

No Single Use Plastic Bottles Please

In assembly today, Mr Browning the two IPC pupils spoke about plastic bottles and the dangers to the planet that these cause. We looked at one class's water bottle box at random. Out of the 11 bottles in there, only 1 was a single use bottle. Well done to this class! We are on a drive to stop anyone bringing in single use bottles to school for water. There are plenty of cheap reuseable bottles that may be brought into school. Please help save our planet.

Viking for a Day

There is nothing like a hands-on experience! Today, year 5 and 6, who are studying the Vikings this term, were visited by Vikings from York. Pupils were taught about customs and everyday life in Viking times. They have been acquainting themselves with this fascinating subject over the last few weeks, so it was brilliant to have some 'actual Vikings' popping in! One of those WOW days!

Please Write Names in Clothing

The weather now seems to be turning; getting wetter and colder at times. Please ensure your child comes to school with suitable warm and waterproof clothing. Each year, we are amazed by how many items of clothing start to pile up in our lost property. To overcome this, there is a very simple solution... write your child's name is in their clothing. This can be cheaply and easily done with a permanent marker.

Health & Safety: Earrings in School

Please may we remind you that pupils are not allowed to wear hooped or dangly earings in school. If they wear stud earings these will need to be covered for PE.
