We have to report that a child, and now other pupils and staff have tested positive and have COVID symptoms. Children and staff in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes need to self isolate for 10 days starting with Thursday 25th March as Day 1. If any of these pupils or staff develop symptoms, then they will have to start another 10 day period of isolating from when they developed symptoms. We have taken action and advice with this from the appropriate authorities on

We will be continuing to work with Test and Trace now that we have closed for Easter and we would like to make sure that you are clear about who to contact and what to do if your child tests positive for coronavirus over the holiday period. Attached is a flyer to promote the two afternoon sessions of the Easter Spring Trail on Pearson Park on Tuesday 30 March and Thursday 1 April from 1-4pm which are being run as part of Hull City Council’s Easter Healthy Holidays activities. This is the last day of the spring term. The school will be closed from tomorrow for two weeks plus one day as part of the Easter Holiday. Pupils will return to school on Tuesday 13th April (there is a staff training day on Monday 12th). It has been the most unusual spring term that anyone could have imagined. We now have a new set of menus. As usual, this rotates on a three week basis with our kitchen staff cooking from fresh produce. We are delighted that we can continue to provide hot meals that are cooked on the school premises.

We have recently informed you about the sad loss of Lorna Denholm, a previous head teacher at Stepney. in 1986, Mrs Denholm led the celebrations as the school turned 100 years old. Completed in 1886, the first pupils started in May 1887. Fast forward to 1986 and it was a good excuse for a party and a big cake. We have received this note from Jim Dick, OBE, Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire, thanking us for our work during these difficult times. As always, it is a team effort at Stepney... a team which comprises staff, pupils and parents.

We are delighted to welcome Katie Walker to Stepney. Katie will be our new school nurse after the Easter Holiday. She will be in school on Wednesday mornings. If any parents wish to get in touch with Katie over medical issues relating to their children, then please contact the school office.

It was Red Nose Day last Friday. At Stepney, we asked pupils and staff to pay £1 to come dressed in pyjamas on this day. We have received the following message from the charity, thanking us for our fund raising. Please click here.

The Local Authority are funding vouchers over the Easter Holiday period at £30. Our Trust, the YHCLT, will send out the £30 vouchers tomorrow on 23rd March. This may seem a little early however, because of grant restrictions, parents need to access the voucher before the end of March. All parents receiving these vouchers need to access their voucher from the system prior to the 26th March 2021.
