Our year 6 pupils have been producing some stunning art work based on life in the oceans. Always passionate about the natural world, their teachers have reported how enthralled their pupils are with this subject.
We have been informed that one of our dear friends and former Stepney Head Teacher, Mrs Lorna Denholm, has recently passed away. Her husband has been in touch with Mr Browning to say that Lorna has bequeathed £500 to the school in her will. One of our annual guests at the Year 6 Leavers' performances in recent years, Lorna had been rekindling her links with our school. She was the head teacher of Stepney between 1974 and 1988. Her time as head included the school celebrating
It is Red Nose Day tomorrow. At Stepney, we are asking pupils and staff to pay £1 to come dressed in pyjamas on this day. May I ask parents to pay via 'School Money'. This is the online service that we use for paying dinner money. We have sent texts and emails out to parents about this and we have already had a good response.
This Sunday (21st March), it is the National Census 2021. This census is undertaken once every ten years. We are marking this with a trust wide pupil census. The questions have come from the year 6 classes in all seven primary schools - Chiltern, Ings, Oldfleet, Priory, St. George's, Sidmouth and Stepney. None of the questions identify who the children are and we've checked through the type of questions being asked. This has been arranged to be a fun thing for children to do,
Please see this advert for a local Rugby League team who are looking for under 8s to joing them. They are based on Kingswood, but happy for all to join them. This is a great opportunity for the children to be involved from the beginning.
Please may we remind any adult coming onto either our front or back playgrounds, or any part of the school premises that Masks must be worn. We are trying to keep everyone safe as well as keeping the school open to all pupils. If we all cooperate with this, then this will help us to avoid another lockdown.
We have heard today that a number of schools across the city are having to close bubbles because pupils and staff are testing positive. Please may we remind you to social distance. We realise outside our school gates can be congested. Please take up our offer to come inside the playground at home time. This allows you to space out and social distance. In school, staff always wear masks when outside of their usual classrooms and offices. Many thanks to our parents for wearing

Red Nose Day is back on Friday 19th March and this year it’s never felt more important to have some fun and raise money to support people living incredibly tough lives. We need the power of funny to turn laughs into lasting change. At Stepney, we are asking pupils and staff to pay £1 to come dressed in pyjamas on this day.
As day 3 of the reopened school spring term, we would like to say a big thank you to all of our parents and pupils. We have reopened with the autumn timetables back in place following the lockdown. These are still there to protect pupils and staff in the present COVID pandemic. The health and safety of everyone at Stepney is paramount in our minds. We are following the guidance that is given to us and ensuring pupils and staff are being tested or told to isolate whenever this

Here are the PE Days by year group: Reception - Friday Year 1 - Thursday Year 2 - Wednesday Year 3 - Wednesday Year 4 - Tuesday Year 5 - Monday Year 6 - Tuesday
Now that school is reopen to all pupils, any Chrome Books borrowed from us need to be returned to school. It is essential that the charging leads are returned as well. Today has been an exciting day as it is World Book Day. Whether at school or at home, pupils and staff have been dressing up as a Super Heroes. We have held a competition to see if pupils could decorate a vegetable of their choice into a book character, and we had some wonderful entries. Many thanks for everyone's contributions. It has been lovely to have a fun day.
