Today, Miss Baitson and Mrs Warcup have flown out to Freetown, the capital city of Sierra Leone. They are visiting our partner establishment, Adeline School, as part of a British Council-funded project. They are taking teaching resources that were purchased from funds raised at our special Christmas Fair. Our two teachers will spend a week with headteacher Eileen Nicol, her staff and pupils helping them with their teaching as well as learning about their teaching methods. It promises to be a memorable experience for them as they will be immersed in a completely different culture. Mrs Warcup has been to Freetown before. Following Mr Browning’s visit to ICOPS, our former partner school in 2010, Mrs Warcup and Mr Burton went out a year later. The work with this school proved difficult due to the communications links. Mrs Nicol is much more attuned to modern technology and regularly texts us via Whatsapp.
