Meanwhile, in Hull at St. Mary's Queen of Martyrs' Primary School, twelve teams competed in a similar tournament. With the World Cup starting tomorrow, it was the ideal way for our two cities to mark this occasion and also our continued joint friendship and collaboration.
Parkstone won this 4 a-side competition, which had the schools playing in group and knock-out rounds. In between matches, pupils had the challenge of seeing how many keepy-uppies they could do whilst blindfolded!
Many thanks to Mr Guthrie for organising this wonderful event. Stepney came in 8th place and played competitively throughout.
It was amazing that we could have two tournaments taking place simultaneously in two different continents. Of course, it helps that Freetown is on the same time zone as us but it took some co-ordinating, nevertheless.
