Tree Surveys in Pearson Park

Year 5 and 6 had a brilliant time in Pearson Park surveying trees, yesterday. They learned how to calculate the height of a tree by some ingenious methods including bending down, looking between their legs to the tree then measuring the distance to the trunk with a trundle wheel! They also used string to measure the circumference of a tree trunk to then calculate its age. They also looked at different leaves and identified tree types with these. There's nothing like getting out with nature! What a wonderful time they all had!
