At Stepney Primary we believe PE & Sport plays an important role in making our vision statement a reality for every pupil, with the potential to change young people’s lives for the better.

We welcomed the Government’s announcement in June 2013 to provide additional funding until 2020 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. We are committed to using this resource in developing high quality PE lessons, alongside greater opportunities for sporting competitions and clubs for all our young people.

In 2018-19

  • 75% of the KS1 and 2 whole school population have been to afterschool sports clubs this year.

  • 93% of Year 5/6 pupils have experienced Level 2 Inter-school sports competitions.

  • 76% of all KS2 pupils have experienced Level 2 Inter-school sports competitions.

We have clear goals for 2019-20:

  1. Target those children who have not attended a club this academic year;

  2. Target those children who have not attended a Level 2 Inter-school competition this academic year;

  3. Seek to offer more Level 2 competitive opportunities for Years r1-3.
