The Hull fREADom Show - Circus Presentation

This afternoon, the Hull fREADom Quest 2018-school engagement came to Stepney. This is part of an initiative from Hull Libraries.

The Summer holiday traditionally sees a dip in children’s reading, meaning some struggle to re-engage when they return to school in September. The Hull fREADom Quest encourages young people to keep on reading, challenging them to read 6 books in 6 weeks and complete 6 related adventures.

Children who complete the Hull fREADom Quest will receive a certificate, pin badge and be invited to a special circus themed celebration event at Hull City Hall on the 23rd September

The school with the most readers will receive £500 worth of books for their school library

This year’s fREADom Quest theme is circus to celebrate 250 years since Philip Astley drew out a circle in the ground and filled it with astounding physical acts. To get pupils enthused they’ve teamed up with The Culture House to deliver a 10 minute circus inspired performance that captures children’s imaginations. This will be followed by a brief overview of what The Hull fREADom Quest is and how children can get involved.

Our pupils loved the acrobatics and juggling skills of the performers. Cheers from the school hall could be heard all around the building.
