The Big Malarkey

It’s nearly time to step into a world of stories at The Big Malarkey Festival, Hull’s Children’s Literature Festival, which takes place over the weekend of 29 and 30 June.

Back for its third year, the festival will feature an eclectic programme offering a culture of discovery for children of all ages as families are invited to step into a world of imagination and discover new and much-loved stories in a playful and celebratory programme.

This year’s festival has something for children of all ages, including an extensive programme for teens. Amy Thompson from Channel 5’s Milkshake is the festival’s MC, while guests include major award-winning children’s authors Caroline Lawrence (Roman mysteries series) and Lisa Williamson (The Art of Being Normal), as well as illustrator Nick Sharratt and Victoria Newlyn, who will narrate Roald Dahl’s Dirty Beasts in the festival’s Sunday finale.

Taking place in East Park, from 10am until 5pm, tickets are available from your local library or online. They cost £5 for adults and £2.50 for children. For more information visit www.thebigmalarkey.com
