Bridge Naming Vote: Your Help is Required

To name the new bridge over the A63, Highways England asked local schools to submit essays on “ The naming of the bridge – who inspires me and why?” Out of all the entries 5 were shortlisted, 4 of those shortlisted entries are from students at Newland School for Girls, one from Archbishop Sentamu Academy. Below are instructions on how you can vote, the link below will take you straight to the page. As Newland School for Girls is one of the schools in our Multi Academy Trust, we would ask that you might the Newland Entries by voting for:

Thomas Ransom – the great uncle of one of the NSG students, who was a tail bomber who flew in a Lancaster Bomber during World War 2

Mary Murdoch – the first female GP in Hull

Lillian Billocca – who fought for changes in the fishing industry, leader of the ‘headscarf revolutionaries’
