We have been informed that one of our dear friends and former Stepney Head Teacher, Mrs Lorna Denholm, has recently passed away. Her husband has been in touch with Mr Browning to say that Lorna has bequeathed £500 to the school in her will. One of our annual guests at the Year 6 Leavers' performances in recent years, Lorna had been rekindling her links with our school.
She was the head teacher of Stepney between 1974 and 1988. Her time as head included the school celebrating being 100 years old and Lorna researched and wrote the history of the first 100 years.
We are considering how best to spend it, but we know for certain that Lorna would have wanted it to go for something to give to the children.
Lorna was superb with the children and a brilliant artist to boot. We hope you'll join us in sending our sincere condolences to her husband and the family.
